Camera Reviews - Canon SD880

Share/Bookmark
Canon SD880 Powershot Digital Elph is only one digital digital camera in a spread of "Canon powershot" models. There are several just like the Sd880, which is a little older, and one of many here to stay models.

The reason it's "here to stay" is just that it's one of those digital cameras that will get the job completed and gets it accomplished well... In the Canon SD880 Powershot Review you'll discover that it scores very highly in all categories. I am giving it 5 out of 5 in all accept one category. You can go to see which on the review itself.

The 10-megapixel PowerShot SD880 IS Digital Elph is the new follow-up to the SD870, and is a superbly updated model of a digital camera that everybody just fell in love with.

Easily capable of producing an excellent quality of shot for a camera of its small measurement, you would be forgiven for thinking that you've suddenly developed a magical touch. In your very first photographs you'll doutlessly discover Canon SD880 powershot a total improvement. I personally was amazed by it's performance.

(Fact is, I like anything that makes me look good!)

There are small weaknesses, as you will see on the Canon SD880 review page, however this is an excellent point-and-shoot digicam, which for the spend involved, outshines the competition easily.

First of all there's an amazingly big display on the Canon SD880 which takes up almost the entire back of the cam! The display screen itself is good and vibrant, and crystal clear. Because of this even the on sunniest of days, you will nonetheless be capable of get a clear view of your shots. One thing that many different producers actually fall short on.

6.3 ounces in weight it's good and light. At 3.7 inches wide by 2.2 inches high by only 0.9 inch deep, it will fit comfortably in your coat pocket with ease. There are a great deal of smaller cameras on the market than the SD880, however I reckon, if it slips into a coat pocket, it's small enough.

In comparison with the earlier model, the previous SD870 IS, the new up to date SD880 IS has the very latest version of Canon's image-processing engine, Digic 4 taking it from eight megapixels to an amazingly clear 10, which implies if you need them, you can easiy get big prints with none of the lack of clarity.

It also now affords you a few more "scene" modes. It's 4x f28-58 28-112mm lens is without doubt one of the highlights of the camera. You are getting a wide angle lense!

It is a nice touch that Canon have used here.. and so nice to have, especially on a digital camera that is not a DSLR... A camera as small as this one? That's unbeleivably good. You are additionally getting a more powerful zoom than on the SD870, and a dramatically improved video feature, as Canon SD880 Powershot is now using the H.264 codec as a substitute to the previous Motion JPEG. Motion JPEG was good, but the H.264 codec makes an actual noticeable difference. Enough to warrant a special point out in my book.
The Canon SD880 Powershot gets the job done with ease.
